Street Art for Children and Youths - from 14. 2. 2019 - Starting a New Semester!

The course Street Art and Graffiti will introduce you to themes and techniques that are used by street artists. Traditional graffiti artists create on the street, and often their artworks are made in dimensions of a couple of meters.  Street art is not just a work with spray but includes more techniques and media - as wheatpasting, stickers, stencil graffiti, creating mosaics, video projection and street installation. The techniques and procedures of street art can also be used in studio work.

The course Street art is suitable for everyone who wants to become familiar with the art techniques that use street artists are using. The course is a combination of theoretical thematic introduction with the following practical part. Each participant will get to know the so-called. "Street formation" and practically try out the techniques and after the workshop, everyone will take home their first graffiti painting.

• Thematic introductions:

How to read the graffiti. Graffiti versus street art. Presentation of Czech and foreign artists. From the street to the gallery. Creation of the public space, its pros, and cons. Behavior on the street, or the law and order. How to recognize kitsch and taste, or true art. Quality vs. quantity. DIY procedures versus factory technology.

• The practical part is focused on street art techniques:

Opportunities to work with spray. Manual production of stencils, markers, posters, stickers. Calligraphy - tagging. Working with color and other. We put the emphasis on the individual style of artistic expression, searching the originality of individual and freedom of expression and abstraction.
